Different Snow • Website
Helping to generate travel enquiries.
Nick from Different Snow approached us with a requirement to complete rework from scratch his existing website that would showcase his two passions of Japan and Skiing and share the unique and niche opportunity to offer his clients something very different; a rich experience and often overlooked opportunity to ski in Japan.
We wanted to create a brochure style site that brought these ideas together, capturing Different Snow's niche offering in a way that would reflect the anticipated culture and visual references to Japan. We put these touches into the site with a western spin on the format and aesthetics, creating a site that would provide all the information either traditional European destination or more well-travelled skiers would expect to find on other ski offering sites. The balance was to create an authentic, non-cliche site that would open up the idea and intrigue of skiing in Japan to a wider audience

Showcasing Skiing in Japan
Detailed ‘destination’ pages showcase the benefits and highlights of skiing in Japan through a variety of display options, including text block, accordion, resort cards and enquiry footer. With all components fully customisable using the Umbraco CMS. The page also features a number of visual elements to fully immerse the user in the Japanese ski experience.

Detailed Resort Information
The resort pages provide more detailed information on the individual ski resorts in Japan. Accessible via the 'Destinations' section, the pages feature high-end imagery, a map location pin and a resort card outlining the star rating, as well as an overview from the Different Snow Founder, Nick Coates. Finally, accordions are used at various points throughout the page in order to present the wealth of information in an engaging and user-friendly way.

Accommodation
Further information on the resort accommodation (such as location and rating) is provided through a dedicated section and overview cards on the 'Resort' pages.
A 'Find out more' link is then used to entice users to continue reading, with additional information displayed via a separate overlay pop-up; helping users to easily switch between and compare accommodation options without being directed away from the resort page.

Bringing the experience to mobile
With an ever-increasing mobile-audience, the new site was built to responsively adapt to various breakpoints, from mobile through to tablet and desktop; ensuring that the site could be accessed by as many users and demographics as possible.
