The Challenge

Harkn was born out of a management consultancy working with leadership teams on their internal culture, employee satisfaction and happiness. It was through a review of one of their typical exercises that analysed the cultural views of the business from the perspective of leadership teams, their peers and employees. They found a consistent gap between them was always present and usually down to a lack of internal insight. This gave rise to an idea and a niche opportunity… to create a platform that companies could use internally to gain better insights, manage HR challenges and create better company cultures. The issue was their lack of development capabilities to bring this idea to life and so they tasked us with this undertaking.

 

The Approach

We hosted an initial consultation with Harkn to thoroughly understand their requirements and specification for the new system, ensuring our vision aligned with their needs. Initially this started as a simple initial solution known as The Happiness Lab that would capture the mood of each employee daily and provide insights for individuals as well as an overall company view. Through a very closely intertwined collaboration where 16i have provided the development capabilities and technical expertise, we have not only refined these initial ideas into an effective, workable solution; we have also grown the platform beyond its original scope with constant iterations and improvements. This has added value to both Harkn as it has evolved into a SaaS business and for its customers that have adopted the platform in their workplaces.

The Wall provides an anonymous and safe space for employees to voice their issues, concerns and ideas providing the company and it's leaders with valuable insights and a realistic picture of life within the organisation. The anonymous functionality enables employees to be honest without feeling they will be judged or penalised for expressing their opinions.

Team Rooms

A place for teams to share insights.

As part of the on-going development work for the platform a Teams room area was created where companies could offer forum type spaces to their employees where they could share their ideas and opinions with each other.

The forum style of conversations on Teams rooms allows for people to add comments to the room and for other members of the team to comment on these comments as threads allowing multiple conversation threads to happen in a team.

Data-driven Employee Happiness

The core principle behind the Harkn platform is to provide a tool that employers can use to manage their employees happiness through data-driven insights. It is through the gathering, analysis and interpretation of the anonymous data that allows Harkn's clients to identify either collective or individual issues as they occur and do everything they can to solve issues that might otherwise go unobserved.

What I like about 16i is their real can-do attitude from everybody that works there.
