PIPA • Website
Communicating how the inflatable play industry is safeguarding young lives.
With a functional website already in place, PIPA approached 16i looking for a new development team to complete a full redesign and build of their website to give it an updated look and feel, and future-proof against changing technologies. In addition, the new site needed to appeal to a range of audiences including both the inflatable industry and the general public.
We initially examined the key requirements of the site which included the ability to access and present data in the form of certificates, reports and validation of the safety of devices from the their inspection platform; be able to find PIPA approved inspectors and device operators and finally presenting the proposition for PIPA, why it's important and who it's for. We explored all the possible users and their journeys and planned out a structure that would help each of these users find what they needed on the site.
From the design perspective we refined aspects of the brand including logo composition to improve it's use and the choice of colours and typography to make the brand feel more approachable and family friendly. These same thought process transitioned into the site design which previously had been very informative but lacking a balanced mix of authorative but warm and supportive aesthetics, something we aimed to resolve.

Presenting a more friendly and approachable face to the brand.
We chose to use more curved and softer elements to reflect the shaping of the inflatable equipment and give everything a softer feel. We then combined that with a vivid colour palette and introducing more imagery to help support the messaging about PIPA's goal; making inflatable play equipment safe to maximise fun. The goal with the homepage was two fold, make the proposition clear and easily allow people to search for tags and reports.

Checking the status of a device
Every PIPA tested device carries a tag which is unique to a single device. The tags contains a code which can be typed into the site or the QR code on it scanned. This will pull up a page that will show the status of the device and show it's full testing history on the PIPA scheme with each report viewable to give them peace of mind that the device is safe for use.

Reviewing Certificates and Reports Online
Whenever a PIPA approved device is tested a report is generated and from that if it passes a certificate is generated for the device for 1 year. These can be viewed online either by finding the report from tag / device it's attached to or by searching for the reports unique ID number. Anyone can view these and this helps PIPA to maintain transparency and integrity with its safety credentials.

Traffic Light System for Tags & Reports
To help make it easy for users reviewing tags and reports we have ensured there is a clear labelling and traffic light system that indicates the status of a device; green for pass, orange for passed with advisories, red for failed and black for expired / no longer valid. This system us easily visible on all screen sizes, meaning checking inflatable devices on location couldn't be easier.

Search for Inspectors & Operators
To help users of the site find and use approved PIPA devices and inspectors the site includes this search functionality. The general public (parents, schools, councils etc) can find inflatble play equipment operators with PIPA approved devices. Likewise operators can search and find PIPA approved inspectors in their area.

Website powered by Platform Data
The website works so effectively because of the closely intergrated way the PIPA Platform talks to the website and vice-versa. It ensures the website acts as a portal to the platform and all data shown on the site is the latest from the system to maintain integrity of the data and uphold the principles of PIPA.
